ONE Click to End Poverty
In order for our school to move up in ranks and help in the fight to end extreme poverty around the world, we need everyone to do their part. To do this, I ask all of you to take a few moments to sign this petition that urges our government to improve U.S. foreign assistance to the poorest countries in the world. You can sign the petition by navigating to:
Share this link with all your friends and family. Together as ONE, we can make a difference!

The brothers of Alpha Kappa Omega will be tabling outside the student union this week with brochures and information about current issues related to extreme poverty and how we can make a difference. We encourage you all to stop by and ask any questions or share and ideas you may have.
Your Campus Leader,
Jay DeGuzman
ONE Campus Challenge
This year, Alpha Kappa Omega is stepping forward and leading SJSU in a nation wide collegiate competition known as the ONE Campus Challenge (OCC) and we need the help from ALL Brothers, Sisters, friends, and family to sign up for ONE in order to make this successful.
Led by Brothers Jay Deguzman and Frank Ku, our short-term goal is to have 300 people sign up by October 31. Our long-term goal is to have our school, San Jose State University, in the top 10 by the end of the semester. Currently our school is #27 but the competition is only just begun and many schools have yet to get started.
What is ONE?
ONE is a campaign and advocacy organization backed by more than 2 million people who are committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease
By educating the people we know and around our community, we can help spread awareness on extreme poverty and how we as individuals can help end it. Knowledge is power and the more people that know about these issues, the louder our voice becomes in fighting them.
How does OCC work?
Every month for the next 7 months, all the schools are given a different challenge. This Month’s challenge is to recruit as many students, alumni, friends, and family as we can. The school that generates the most new members earns 20,000 points.
In January, the campus leaders of the top 100 schools are invited to what is called the Power 100 Summit in Washington D.C., which is basically a leadership conference that talks about these current issues in more depth and actually meet with members of Congress. From there, the top 100 schools compete for a slot in the top 10 which is chosen in late April. These top 10 schools, then compete in one last competition until the top school is chosen.

First, we need all of you to sign up for ONE. Navigate to that link and fill out the form on the right.
Double the Fun
Campus MovieFest 2009 @ SJSU was pretty sweet. The movies were bomb, so check em out.
Our Brother Drex made a movie “Sorry, I missed you.”
“Love equals pain. Not everyone can have what they want.”
The movie stars himself, and Brothers John-Paul Limpin and Matt Thompson and our Sister Emmie Luong.
To vote for his movie text VOTE326 to 41234.
With something good like this, what could be better. When it comes in twos. John-Paul Limpin also worked on the movie “Ill Will.”
“Motivated by greed and pleasure, Frank and Jake kidnap and torture Will. Will must escape the hell he was brought into in order to survive. This is a revenge story, but is vengeance sweet enough?”
To vote for this movie Text VOTE91 to 41234.
Double the entertainment, double the fun. Make sure you vote and send these movies to the regional grand finale.
